A History of Mayworth

It's been a journey of 23 years from start until now.  Starting as the North West Charity Line Dance Weekend in 1999 held at the Tamworth RSL Club, with 60 entries and workshops hosted by Julie Talbot, Kevin & Maria Smith. This event was 100% for charity raising funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

The event stayed this way until 2003.

In late 2003, a relaunch happened and we changed the brand and stepped up the event to become the Australian Country Dance Festival.

In 2005 we moved to West Tamworth Leagues Club.

In 2014 we celebrated our 10th Anniversary (Actually a year late but these things happen)

In 2020 the event wasn't able to be held due to covid.

23 years since the original event started we celebrated 20th anniversary of the Australian Country Dance Festival brand, but the event itself would be 23 years old.

We couldn't have done it without all of you! The sponsors, the competitors, the judges, the dancers, the instructors, the volunteers, the hotels, venues, photographers - everyone involved is a part of the journey! Thank you.
